Hey! I’m Charlotte - Ayurvedic practitioner, movement guide, retreat facilitator and the gal behind the Aligned Living Collective.
Once upon a time, I was chasing balance in all the wrong places. Although on paper it looked like I was doing the ‘right’ things, I was overwhelmed, irritable and pushing myself too hard. What I didn't realise was that I was burning myself down to the ground and living totally out of alignment with what is right for me.
What changed everything? Well a few things. Firstly, a lockdown that threw me into a hard stall, and a complete lifestyle change built on studying Ancient systems of wisdom that helped me understand not just my body, but my nature. Then it was looking into my Human Design to really understand my nature and natural ebbs and flow that come with my energy type.
My Ayurvedic constitution - Pitta/Vata - gives me a wild blend of fire and air, meaning I’m driven, creative, sensitive to noise, energy and stimulation and quick to get overwhelmed if I don’t build in rest. My Human Design as a Manifestor 1/3 means I’m here to initiate, follow inner urges and learn through lived experience. I’m not built for consistency - I move in seasons and have had to lean into my hectic creative bursts then necessary rest cycles.
Sometimes I’m building a nest out of sofa cushions in the garden, other times I’m building a shed, a wildlife pond and redecorating my hallway in the same afternoon. That’s just how my energy works - burst then retreat, do then cocoon.
For years I thought something was wrong with me. I internalised stress, pushed through exhaustion and wondered why everyone else seemed to be able to get on with it, when I needed so much time to be on my own to recalibrate. But through Ayurveda, some big realisations that come with age (hey late 30s) intuitive movement and rest, I’ve come to understand how to honour my fluctuating energy, my inner rhythm and the seasonal intelligence of the body. I have more compassion for myself, I’m accepting of my rhythms and now, I help others do the same.
What I am here to do
Through immersive Ayurveda retreats, workshops and teacher trainings, I create experiences for people to reconnect and learn more about themselves and support their lifestyles with Ayurvedic teachings. My approach isn’t about dumbing down your life so you can be passive and gentle, this is about building up your strength and energy so that you have full capacity to live boldly and take on whatever shit this funny old world throws your way.
