Stop trying to PERFECT wellness

I have a few questions for you…

How you are fairing on your health journey?

Are you trying to be perfect?

……Is it hindering your health journey?

As someone who has been actively practicing Ayurveda for the past 5 years, I wanted to share that the worst thing you can do is carry the pressure of perfectionism on your shoulders.

Why Perfectionism is a Health Hazard

Life is messy, things change at the last minute, plans don't go how we want them to, a friend calls and has a rare date free, we woke up moody as hell, we had a fight with a partner, there was a bereavement, the sun is out and the pub is calling.

Ayurveda is a Companion, Not a Headmistress

It’s not a checklist of punishments. It’s not another rigid lifestyle upgrade to ‘master.’ Ayurveda is a relationship, a set of wise, time-tested tools that can hold you through both illness and wellness. It is a way of supporting our body and mind and helping us feel empowered in our choices.

What we need to avoid is using this wisdom to further restrict and control ourselves. There will be some days where it feels hard and others where you feel perfectly in flow and that's ok!

The 80/20 Approach (My Way of Staying Motivated AND Sane)

I live by this rule:

  • 80% of the time: I try to live with self-awareness. I eat in season, honour my energy levels, check in with my digestion, and move my body in ways that feel good.

  • 20% of the time: I let go. I drink the wine, eat the chips (I live by the seaside after all), skip the tongue scraping and I don’t feel bad about it.

And here’s the important lesson:
That 20%? It’s just as vital as the 80%.

Because that 20% gives you grace. Space. Breath. Joy.
The 80% holds you together. The 20% lets you feel free.

If You’re ‘Off Track’… You’re Probably Just Being Human

If you’ve drifted from your plan lately, please don’t spiral into guilt. You haven’t failed you’ve just forgotten the rhythm. And that’s OK.

Come back with the 80/20 mindset in hand.
Come back with curiosity, not criticism.

And if you need help realigning or knowing where to even start, that’s literally what I’m here for.

P.S.

This is the kind of honest, seasonal, real-life wisdom I share inside The Aligned Living Membership - a slow, Ayurveda-informed space for rhythm, rest and realness.
